No. Most list several sectors, and a company that sits between two of them is normal rather than a problem. What matters is whether the firm has funded something structurally similar to you, not whether the label matches exactly.

It helps, mostly because it moves your email out of a crowded inbox. It is not a requirement. A cold message that shows you understand what the firm has already backed, and why your company fits that pattern, gets read more often than a vague introduction from a distant contact.
